Eivisual production company has completed the documentary video 'Saints and Assassins', on the figure of Merche Chapí. The Valencian director based in Ibiza who was the soul of the Amateur Theater Group (GAT) for more than 40 years and also worked as an acting instructor.

The job, from 35 minutos consists of an interview conducted by the cultural manager Carles Fabregat, where Chapí responds honestly and brilliantly to the review of 40 years of activity in the world of theater.

“…I fell in love with Ibiza since I arrived in the year 1966 y es la ciudad en la que he estado viviendo y trabajando desde entonces”.

Chapí began his theatrical career in 1961, to the 22 years, as an actress of the TEU of Valencia under the orders of director Antonio Díaz Zamora, whom she recognizes as her teacher.

Merche Chapí left TEU in 1968 y se trasladó a Ibiza. There he founded his first theater classroom at the Blat school in Ibiza in 1970. In 1975 created the Amateur Theater Group (GAT) and directed it until its dissolution in 2020 after having released some 180 montages.

Has received different awards:

Premio Importante del Diario de Ibiza (1996).
Premio Ramon Llull del Government of the Balearic Islands (2018).
Premio 8 de marzo a mujeres progresistas de Ibiza (2019).
Premio a toda la trayectoria del Consell d’Eivissa (2021).
Medalla de Oro de la ciudad de Ibiza (2022).

‘Santos y asesinos’ repasa la carrera de esta importante figura en un trabajo de 35 minutos realizado por Ramon Mayol. Ha dirigido deferentes vídeo documentales: ‘El ca eivissenc’, ‘La torre la sal i el temps’, ‘VISCa la badia!, o la serie ‘Aigua Viva!, sobre los pozos y fuentes de Santa Eulària des Riu, entro otros. También es autor de numerosos cortometrajes: ‘Talis’, ‘Tu jefe se come a mis novios’, ‘ReMI’, ‘The Lengend’… o del micro corto ‘Selficrosis‘.
